Our History

The Rockwall Professional Firefighters Association, Local 5057, was started by the full-time members of the local fire department in order to foster better safety standards and provide a professional service to the citizens of Rockwall. History is important to us because it guides us into the future, while remembering that it is equally important to adapt and change with time.
Our goals include supporting the local community; fostering and encouraging a higher degree of skill and efficiency; a commitment to providing the public with a professional, highly trained staff; the pursuit of safety; the cultivation of friendship among our members; and the elevation and improvement of the moral, intellectual, social, and economic conditions of our members.
The RPFA is also a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), the driving force behind nearly every advance in the fire and emergency services in the 21st century. With headquarters in Washington, DC, and Ottawa, Ontario, the IAFF represents more than 300,000 full-time professional firefighters and paramedics in more than 3,100 affiliates. IAFF members protect more than 85 percent of the population in communities throughout the United States and Canada. The IAFF is also one of the most active lobbying organizations in Washington, DC. Its Political Action Committee, FIREPAC, is among the top 25 federal PACs of the more than 4,000 in the country. In addition, the RPFA is supported by the Texas State Association of Fire Fighters (TSAFF).
